These two books didn’t come in my mailbox, rather from my quick trip to the bookstore.
The first book is 5 Ingredient Fix (Easy, Elegant and Irresistible Recipes) by Claire Robinson, host of the Food Network’s 5 Ingredient Fix and Food Network Challenge. I hadn’t planned on buying this book, I was just browsing when I came upon it. I’ve watched her 5 Ingredient Fix and enjoyed her uncomplicated, simple way of making really delicious food. I grabbed the book off the shelf, found a seat and flipped through the pages.
Rosemary Parmesan Shortbread. Rib Eye Steaks au Poivre. Easy White Pizza. Grandma Moore’s Creamed Corn. Flourless Chocolate Lover’s Cake.
Mouth watering yet?
I can’t wait to dig into this book and try a few recipes. When I do I’ll share the experience along with a review for you.
The second book? Well, the Cookbook Diva doesn’t just live on cookbooks alone. I love a good mystery and a good romance. The other book I purchased was The Werewolf Upstairs, a paranormal romance, written by Ashlyn Chase.
I met Ashlyn a couple of years ago at a writer’s conference. She was very gracious and professional so when I saw this book I just had to buy it. It sounds like it’s going to be an enjoyable read. Here’s a bit of what the book is about from Ashlyn’s site.
When all-star pitcher and shapeshifter Jason Falco buys a small apartment building, he sees it not only as an investment, but as a place to escape the demands of major league baseball. That is, until he meets his tenants! A vigilante vampire: a wereraven with a morbid sense of humor; a werewolf thief who poses as a security expert; and two witches who work as phone sex actresses and own an owl familiar. Not to mention a beautiful, all too human nurse who gets Jason’s blood pumping overtime. With all the hooting, howling and hollering going on, how can an All-American guy get some peace and sweep a girl off her feet.
So now that I’ve shared with you the the new books I got today, I’d like to share a few pictures of Billy. As I’ve posted, he fell the week of Christmas and fractured his jaw. His injury required surgery and that meant until today he couldn’t be groomed (he had to go back for a follow-up to make sure everything was okay) which means he looked pretty ragged by this weekend. Yes, I’ve bathed him but he really needed a haircut. Here are his before and after pictures.
I don’t want to leave Susie out. Here is a picture of the two of them when Billy got home today. It’s not the greatest picture but they were moving so fast it’s the best I could do. 🙂
After a quick lunch both of them crashed on the sofa. Lucky dogs!
